Young supporter tweeting good wishes to Nahiem Alleyne and UConn for their battle with a rare condition

A young girl won the hearts of UConn supporters less than a year ago with her poignant tweet about the generosity of UConn men's basketball star Nahiem Alleyne. Dani Joe Hearl sent her favourite basketball player a good luck message for the national championship game on Monday.

In a video that was uploaded to the Hearl family twitter account, Dani Jo remarked, "Hello Nahiem, this is Dani Jo, I hope you're doing good."

"Thank you for reaching the national championship game. Good luck to you when you play San Diego State on Wednesday. We'll all be watching you on TV, Nahiem. Tomorrow, go win that national title. I'll chat to you later. I love you and miss you. Win, Huskies."

While Alleyne was a student at Virginia Tech, Dani Jo has been a fan. At that time, Alleyne made a point of greeting, conversing with, hugging, and taking pictures with Dani Jo after home games. Dani Jo made sure to tell Alleyne that she would still be his biggest supporter once he transferred to UConn.

Hirschsprung disease, which Dani Jo suffers, causes parts of the intestines to lack nerves, which prevents waste from exiting the body. Joey Hearl stated to CT Insider last year that this has been the reason for Dani Jo's delayed cognitive development, which is thought by medical professionals to be caused by the disruption of oxygen supply to her brain repeatedly while she was a youngster.

Due to a rare gene mutation, she requires a ventilator to sleep, and two-thirds of her intestines have been removed.

Dani Jo's visits to Virginia Tech's Cassell Coliseum were more strenuous than those of the typical Hokie supporter because of her illness. To see Virginia Tech compete, the Hearls would travel an hour and a half from Mount Airy, North Carolina, to Blacksburg, Virginia, while carrying all of Dani Jo's oxygen tanks, ventilators, and suction equipment. Because to this, Alleyne and Dani Jo's bond became even more intimate.

. According to Dani Jo's father, Joey Hearl, "Nahiem constantly comes over and asks how she's doing, how school has been, high fives, and pictures every time he steps out of that locker room and sees her." "The beautiful thing about this kid is he might score 25 points or shoot 1-for-10 from the field, but he knows that Dani Jo will be waiting for him on the edge of the court and he always comes back out to give her a hug," said a coach. It's unique, man.

The Huskies play San Diego State tonight for the chance to capture the program's sixth national championship, the Hearls claimed in their tweet.
