Mane and Sane of Bayern Munich fight after City's defeat.

Since signing from Liverpool in the summer, Mane's 2022–23 season has been up and down, in large part because of a leg injury he sustained on November 8 that caused him to miss the World Cup. Sane moved from Manchester City to Munich in a €49 million transfer in the summer of 2020, and has been there ever since.

Following the dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann as manager, Thomas Tuchel has been in charge of the Bundesliga's top team during this time of change. Since being hired as coach, Tuchel has presided over four games, including a league victory over Borussia Dortmund, a defeat to Freiburg that caused Bayern to lose the German Cup, and Tuesday's loss to Man City.

Bayern has 58 points after 27 games in the Bundesliga this season, while Dortmund is in second place with 56 points after seven games. On April 19, Bayern will face Man City at the Allianz Arena for the second leg.

Bild also stated that two-time African footballer of the year and Senegal international Mane had complained about the manner Germany winger Sane spoke to him after the team's 3-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Bayern Munich did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding the alleged incident.

Bayern suffered its worst Champions League loss versus City since losing 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
